Race-Shaming and Bullying In the Social Media Age

Over the past election cycle, words and phrases were used by Democrats to express their expectation of America. Words like diversity and inclusion were used to highlight the alleged differences between themselves and the homophobic, xenophobic, islamophobic racists which populate the Republican Party. Those under the umbrella of the Democrat Party claim to want a world where all people are accepted, diversity of ideas is the norm, and no one is bullied for being different. However, by word and deed, it is clear they neither live by nor truly believe what they say.

There are two groups of people for whom acceptance and inclusion are not offered by Democrats: Evangelical Christians and Black Conservatives.

Anyone espousing a biblical Christian worldview is viewed as a bigot. The sincerely held religious belief that marriage is between one man and one woman is not tolerated. If you hold this biblical view you are diagnosed as a homophobe (a mental condition that does not exist) and a bigot. Christians owning a bakery are prosecuted for not wanting to participate in the marriage ceremony of two homosexuals. However, Ellen Degeneres can cancel the appearance of a Christian artist based solely on her religious beliefs and is lauded as a hero.

So much for acceptance of diversity of thought and respect for the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

In 1988 I changed my Party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. From that point forward I have been subject to the full panoply of insults from the Black community. I have been called all of the following, and a few more: Coon, Uncle Tom, Sellout, Lap Dog, and House N-gga. My “Black Card” has been revoked. The mere action of leaving the Democrat Party was, and still is, viewed as a traitorous act and a betrayal of the Black Community. I am a race-traitor. To rephrase John Kerry, you can either be Black or be a Republican, you can’t be both!

One need only go to Facebook and Twitter to see the race-shaming and bullying that occurs on a daily basis. This behavior is designed to let the recipient know that simply because they believe something different from Democrat orthodoxy, they are fair game to be publicly scorned and ridiculed. You will be race-shamed and bullied until you return to the plantation or acquiesce to the wishes of “true Blacks.”

“Black Twitter” prides itself “on going hard” on any independent thinker who has the nerve to not fall in line. You can go to YouTube and find diatribes directed at Black Conservatives. Instead of arguing issues and principles, ad hominem attacks are the order of the day. Why? To let that person know their opinion is invalid and that they are not authentically Black.

However, this election cycle has raised the stakes on race-shaming and bullying. It now has been extended to any Democrat who has the nerve to even speak with a Republican. Revered members of the Black community have had their loyalty to the Black community questioned for simply meeting with President-Elect Donald J. Trump.

Hall of Fame football player Jim Brown, who has a lifetime body of work supporting the Black community, has had his Blackness questioned. Kanye West was called a pet monkey, not by White people but by Black people. Steve Harvey met with President-Elect Trump and the race-shamers and bullies came out en force. He is now the subject of a boycott. They want all of his shows and his show’s supporters boycotted. Zoe Saldana merely raised the prospect that Trump and his supporters are being bullied by Hollywood and now she is facing a tremendous backlash. Jennifer Holliday agreed to sing at President Trump’s inaugural. The race-shamers and bullies attacked immediately. Black people referred to her as “Aunt Jemima” and told her to kill herself. The attacks were so ferocious that she cancelled her appearance and apologized for agreeing to perform. And last, but certainly not least, Martin King III is being called a deplorable in social media for merely meeting with President-Elect Trump.

And one of CNN’s chief race-hustlers, Marc Lamont Hill, has described the Blacks meeting with Trump as “mediocre negroes.”

THIS IS NOT AMERICA!

If White people refused to perform at Obama’s inauguration they would have been labeled racists. If Black people refused to participate in Obama’s inauguration they would have been called Uncle Tom’s, sellouts, coons, etc.

If White people agree to perform at Trump’s inauguration they are racists. If Black people agree to participate in Trump’s inauguration they are race-traitors, house n-ggas and coons.

See how this works?

It doesn’t matter what people say or do. If you merely step out of line with Democrat orthodoxy your very identity is attacked, and you are race-shamed and bullied until you conform.

This race-shaming and bullying is ridiculous. A person’s ethnicity is not contingent upon conformity of thought. A person’s ethnicity is not contingent upon loyalty to a political party.

Black Democrats need to stop this nonsense. It is unproductive, and in fact harms the very communities about which they claim to care.

Living inside an echo chamber is dangerous. One aspect of America’s greatness is the ability for competing ideas to be heard and debated in the public square. If this behavior, race-shaming and bullying, continues, our public square will become Red Square, and the rights articulated in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution will cease to exist.

In our current environment, the words of Martin Niemӧller are very poignant.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The type of intolerance exhibited by Democrats through race-shaming and bullying is unhealthy, unnecessary and un-American. If allowed to become the norm, we are fast approaching the tipping point where the right to free speech will be a distant memory, which will inexorably lead to freedom of the press disappearing and freedom of religion becoming a relic of the past. These rights are already under attack.

It is not an overstatement to say that race-shaming and bullying are leading us down the path towards Nazi-style Fascism.

STOP IT, before it is too late.
